The Formal Bits

Booking and Cancelation

We require full payment of the total trip cost to be paid at time of departure unless the weather or river conditions are extremely bad, we will refund you 100%.

If we consider the weather or river conditions to be unsafe for your trip, we will not let you depart. If we believe the weather conditions are improving there may be a delay in departure time or postponement till another day.

Please note all accommodation is available for entry no earlier than 4pm.

Accommodation is self-served with the front door being unlocked and all instructions for accommodation on the whiteboard in the lounge area.

You will need to sign a standard waiver prior to journey departure.

We reserve the right to cancel this journey if the weather or conditions will deem this unsafe.

Disclaimer
We cannot be held responsible for any electronic equipment or personal items that are taken on your trip.

All of our equipment is checked regularly.

Our liability is not guaranteed due to user error, and other circumstances out of our control.

Although greatly reduced, there is still a small risk of an accident and / or injury.

Owhango Adventures and / or the guide cannot be held responsible unless great negligence was involved on their part.

Safety Responsibility
Clients are responsible for their own safety management and clients must meet any additional costs arising from bad weather, or injury.

Safety Responsibility

• If weather and river conditions turn bad during your trip, your first option should be to wait it out.
• Clients are required to replace any equipment lost and are liable for the repair cost of any equipment damaged.
• If conditions turn bad, we will allow you to sit it out and canoe / kayak back a day late, at no extra cost, if you require extra jet boat or shuttle assistance this will be at your cost.
• Owhango Adventures is a safety audited business, as required by the Adventure Activity Regulations.
• If you are a school/educational group, ask us for a copy of our SOP or Rams to help you with your planning.

The minimum recommended age for our trips is 7 years

If we believe the weather conditions are improving, we may delay the departing time or postpone until the following day.

If your trip is cancelled due to bad weather or river conditions, or, if you are unable to postpone until the following day, all amounts held by Owhango Adventures will be refunded.

If you need to transfer to Pipiriki by jet boat, you are required to pay for this.
Some exceptions apply.

Once you have paid for and / or started a canoe trip you will not be refunded for change of mind. If you require extra jet boat or shuttle services, you will be charged accordingly.

Safety Responsibility

Freedom hire:

All clients are responsible for their own safety management, and you must meet any additional costs for jet boat or transport shuttle if you are wanting to get off the river due to bad weather, illness or injury.

Clients are responsible for all their equipment and gear whilst on the river if any gear is lost or damaged you will be charged.

All clients must sign a disclaimer form prior to departure

If conditions turn bad whilst on the river, we will allow you to sit it out for a day at no extra cost at the Department of Conservation Camping sites down the river. At the DOC huts there are radios that you can access in case of an emergency or for communications.

If you are a school /educational group, you can request a copy of our SOP and RAMs to assist you in your planning.

Owhango Adventures will not accept responsibility for any electronic devises taken on the river.

Owhango Adventures /cultural navigators cannot be held responsible unless great negligence was involved on their part.

Owhango Adventures recommends that you arrange travel insurance to guard against the loss of costs associated with cancellation or delay of your trip

Customers will receive a 100% refund if more than 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is given.

Customers will receive a 50% refund if less than 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is given.

Customers will receive a 100% refund if journey is cancelled due to poor weather or conditions.

Customers will receive a 100% refund in Medical Circumstances that prevent a customer from being able to complete a journey. Must be accompanied with a medical certificate and requested within two weeks of the certificate being issued. A medical refund will cover the person named on the Medical Certificate and one support person.
